About the course leader:

Belinda first started working with young people on the streets when she was 17, but for close on fifteen years now she’s been working as a secondary school English teacher. She’s been practicing the craft of writing throughout her entire life and has recently obtained a Masters of Writing and Literature (majoring in Children’s Literature) from Deakin University. She has won numerous short story awards and had her stories published. Her latest project is a 19th century story set in Melbourne about an Apothecarist with a secret; it’s proving very hard to stop thinking about:) She’s a member of Writers Victoria, the Historical Novel Society of Australia, the Society for Children’s Books, Writers and Illustrators and the childrens’ and young adult writing group in Geelong. As she’s still a practicing  teacher, she also has a current working with children’s card as well as police check.

But perhaps most importantly of all, she believes in the power of words to change lives, of both the writer and the reader…
